Chief Nursing Officer
Lorie Herrman, MSN, RN NEA-BC, CPAN, serves as the Chief Nursing Officer
(CNO) for St. Mary's Medical Center, part of
Prime Healthcare. Prior to this role, Herrman was the Regional CNO for Prime Healthcare
providing oversight of nursing initiatives for hospitals in Indiana, Kansas,
Michigan, Missouri, and Ohio. Formerly holding the CNO position at St.
Mary's Medical Center during its transition to Prime Healthcare, Herrman
returned citing her passion for local community involvement, both personally
In addition to her CNO roles, Herrman also served as the Regional Perioperative
St. Joseph and St. Mary’s Medical Centers and as the PACU Manager of St. Joseph
Medical Center. Early in her career, Herrman was a staff nurse in the
Intensive Care Unit/Cardiac Care Unit of St. Mary’s.
Herrman earned a master’s degree in Nursing from Walden University
in Minneapolis, Minn., and a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the
University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, Mo. She currently serves
as the President of the Kansas City Area Nurse Executives (KCANE), is
a past President of MOKAN PANA, the local chapter of the Perianesthesia
Nurses Association. Additionally, Herrman serves as a mentor for the Versant
Nurse Residency program.
Herrman believes in empowering nurses to serve as advocates for their patients
and reminding nurses of their value. Herrman also encourages nurses to
be involved in their specialty through their professional nursing organization
and by obtaining their certification. Herrman supports nurses advancing
their education and having a voice in health care policymaking.
