Colorectal Cancer
Colon cancer has often been thought of as a man’s disease as women have focused more on issues like breast cancer, but women have an equal risk of developing colon cancer. One in 20 will develop this disease in their lifetime, and it has become the third leading cause of death in women. Early screening for signs of colorectal cancer can prevent many deaths, and yet only about 50 percent of women ever have a colonoscopy. At St. Mary's Medical Center, our gastrointestinal team of physicians and nurses encourages early screening, and can address all of your
GI concerns.
